Casting

I used Mandy.com to cast for actors, I posted an ad detailing the show I was adapting and what type of characters I was looking for. I needed to cast a man and a woman between 25-30 to play Erin Greene and Riley Flynn. 

I waited for applications, watched show reels and self tapes then chose some actors to offer zoom auditions to. I contacted them offering them an interview, discussed what times work well for them and I sent a copy of the script for them to have a look over and practice before attending the interview. 

Character Profiles 

Riley Flynn

·         Late 20s-early 30s

·         Former stock market trader

·         Spent four years in jail for manslaughter after a drunk driving accident, killing a young girl.

·         Ridden with guilt, he sees her nightly, standing before him ghostly and covered in blood.

·         Raised on Crockett Island but left and only returned after his 4-year prison sentence.

·         He is met with a very mixed reception.

·         Grew up within a Christian community and family, his religious beliefs remain undecided.

·         He is a recovering alcoholic and atheist, taking a very different stance on the growing religious enthusiasm in town.

·         He reunites with his high school love interest, Erin.

Erin Greene

·        Late 20s-early 30s

·         Ran away from home and Crocket Island as a teen to upstate New York, to escape abuse from her mother.

·         Pregnant with her first child, Erin returns to Crockett Island after escaping an abusive relationship.

·         Finds out that there’s no sign of her ever being pregnant, the Island doctor believes she has had a miscarriage as it is the only scientific explanation.

·         Serves the community as a school teacher.

·         Erin is kind and open-hearted and is among the few to welcome Riley back to the island.

·         Riley’s high school love interest.

·         Erin is a church participant that aims to reintegrate with Crockett Island's township and believes the teachings of the church have been good to her.

·         She is happy to have a friend like Riley who understands what it's like to be an outsider. The two joke about each other being the "prodigal" son/daughter of the island, and there is a palpable intimacy between the two.
